Spell Weavers

An Exuberant and Unforgettable Literary Experience

Picture
_          Spell Weavers conjures back the venerated art and craft of storytelling with seasoned and novice storytellers who spin extraordinary tales into memorable experiences. It is a return to the roots of the spoken parable that has sustained and entertained society with lively content and which highlights the human experience in authentic and often unpredictable ways. The stories are intimate, unique and spellbinding.

10 Spell Weavers will integrate experiences of common and uncommon threads into an entertaining web of  passion and wit at an intimate venue that allows the audience to gather round the stage and enjoy a night of extraordinary narrative. Each Spell Weaver will spin a five-minute tale for a $25 prize. Judges take account of:
    ·         Weaving Knowledge (Notes-free weaving, is
            preferred, but not required.)
    ·         Spinning Time (Stay within 5-minute time frame.)
    ·         How well the Weaver casts a spell (Have fun.
           Engage the audience.)
    ·         Web authenticity (Spin your own web, don’t take
           over somebody else’s.)
    ·         Purposeful Weaving (Good anchors, connections
            and stability.)
o   This is probably the most important
point. Spell Weavers must tell a solid
story with a beginning, middle and
                       end. No rants, stand-up, free-form
                                                                                                                                                stories, cliffhangers or other authors'
material. Stories must be your own.

Spinning Tales

Picture
_ ·         Two ways to be a storyteller:
        * Pre-selected: Please send your name, contact information and a short
description of your story to: Spellweavers@dslextreme.com

        * Audience participation: Just put your name in the hat to be drawn at
            random.
·         Weavers have 5 minutes to spin a tale. Story must be your own.
·         Judging panel decides $25 prize for the winning story at each event.
·         By signing up to tell a story, you agree to be photographed with no monetary
expectation for photographs published on the website. All stories belong to
        the storyteller.

_ Here are some tips:
·         Compose your story and make sure it fits the above-noted criteria.
Your story can be funny, intriguing, poignant, adventurous…you
choose. Just be sure that it is a complete story. We accept all
        genres.
·         Email us at: Spellweavers@dslextreme.com. Include your
name, contact information, story title and a brief
       description of your story.
·       We'll send you an email a week before the event when your story is
        chosen.
·         Have fun entertaining the audience.
·         Invite your friends, your family, the office staff, the mailman, the
guy who runs on the treadmill next to you at the gym every
day. You’ve got a story tell. Everyone should hear it!
·         Audience members can put their names in the jar to tell a story on
any subject, on the event night. If you’ve got a story,  we want to
hear it. You could be the next Spell Weaver winner!
