The Darkening

A powerful locket that has been handed down through generations to the women of Kitanea's family is the basis for renewing life.  Now, the Jarda want it.  Kitanea and her family flee, but the Jarda kill her husband and take her and her infant son hostage.  Before that happens, she buries the magical locket under a huge tree.  Immediately, the world begins to change.  Trees die and the earth spits fire, opening up and giving rise to mutant animals and thin patches where strange worlds come together.  Kitanea, is never able to reclaim her locket.  Two generations have passed and now her great grand-children, Benjamin & Zarah set off on a dangerous quest to recover the locket.
